Hawker Sea Hawk The Sea Hawk first flew in 1951 and entered service with the Fleet Air Arm with 806 Squadron at Brawdy before operating from HMS Eagle. The Sea Hawk saw combat service during the Suez Crisis of 1956. Six Sea Hawk squadrons took part, flying from HMS Eagle, Albion and Bulwark, and was tasked in the ground attack role. The Shackleton was operated by No. 8 Squadron, based at RAF Lossiemouth. The 12 AEWs were given names from the Magic Roundabout and The Herbs TV series. Sopwith Aviation Company The Sopwith Aviation Company was formed in 1912 by Thomas Octave Murdoch Sopwith. Tommy was a wealthy sportsman interested in aviation, yachting and motor racing. The business started at Brooklands, moved to Canbury Park Road then settled in Kingston. After World War I Sopwith was liquidated and Tommy Sopwith formed HG Hawker Engineering with Harry Hawker, Fred Sigrist and Bill Eyre.
